What People Taught Me At University

Image
First things first. I am not going to undertake a proposition that university is the be all and end all of victory amongst our species. I recall being at school whereby the teachers imposed that if we were to avert higher education that we would never attain our hearts desires. Since my own path has transpired unimaginable consequences, I oppose this structure. Finishing school without formal qualifications, truth be told, is not as dreadful as one may believe. Sure, we are lectured on mandatory subjects, such as Math, English and Science. Once we are inquired about our elected coursework, the reality of our futures truly begin to flash before our eyes. Most parents and carers encourage their children to seek some form of employment whilst they are undergoing these examinations. Some suggest avoiding this settlement, in consideration of the fact that it may disrupt the progression of ones educational credentials. On the other hand, from personal experience, a few hours during the we...

Existentialist - Escorting

Image
I routinely write here at Godless hours of our actuality. Our experience of living transcends into lost time, and energy only progresses into affluence and a plethora that we pay our undivided application to. ⏳ My narrative of late seldom invites the provocations that I have managed to boil my personal dilemmas down to, I am assuredly glad to see the back of the last few years. Allow me to elaborate...  Since my last post, I have encountered the inexplicable climax of a contest which imposes that you aren't worth any thing unless you have plenty of people to prove it to. Ultimately, I disagree. I have come to know that life is not as linear as incipiently supposed by school teachers, work colleagues and family members. 🏆 Although they fiercely indoctrinate us with their own convictions and likewise axioms, this is not necessarily an accurate guideline to the life of an individual, distinctly a young person in this modern culture.  Shortly after the Halloween holi...

Sweetcorn Ethics

It is not surprising to feel a little bit disappointed when we throw out food that has turned defective and not suitable for human consumption. This is because of the amount of waste we produce in Britain has been rising due to our consumerist lifestyle lead by a capitalist society. We simply throw away things with out a second thought. We do not acknowledge that our minor actions have a great collective effect on the environment and over the course of time we are gradually incurring an energy crisis that is very taxing on millions of families across the UK. Therefore it brings me a lot of disdain when I find my self, philosophising over a stick of corn on the cob, commiserating about where it came from, how it was provided and whether or not I should continue to cook with it, since it smells very funky, frankly. I cannot tell if this is a metaphor for unnecessary anxiety or literally a test of my intelligence and Earthy - morale, so it brings me no pleasure in decision making, espe...

You know you're a Media student when...

Image
...You interpret the world abstractly, as if your life were in a movie and you were the protagonist of your own conceptualised reality. ...The Matrix / Inception provided all the  enthusiasm  and passion, necessary to apply for Media in the first place. CGI, SNM. ...You're supposed to be technologically adept but you still heavily rely on walkthroughs on random  internet   forums and wikiHow articles to learn how to do things in programmes such as Photoshop , which you should know by now from all those hours in lectures (!)  ...You spend weeks at a time on  YouTube  consuming volumes of information from Vloggers and other non-credible sources, perchance material for critical analysis, investigating the details that these small productions deliver, such as short films. ...Then when you steal ideas from these videos for your own coursework. ...Your best friends are the coders, designers and philoso...

Begging and Homelessness

Image
Easter (or Oester) is the time of year, when new horizons begin to develop, for we associate this with rebirth and expect a more pleasant climate, for harvest and growth, both physical and spiritual. The resurrection of Jesus is celebrated and for the less religious, better weather conditions! Recently, there have been posters affixed to the litter bins in Nottingham City Centre advertising the risks of giving money to homeless people/beggars. This has had a mixed response, some have been genuinely outraged for its derogatory context. As a young person in Nottingham myself, born and bred, who has had homelessness issues as an individual, I have felt compelled to write something about this problem. I have explored Nottingham inside-out and witnessed the struggles of the people on the streets. I have been lucky to get accommodation in my times of need, with associations such as Framework, YMCA and Nacro.  The human beings surviving on the streets are not to be blamed f...

Religion

I have no idea what I am about to write. (Automatic writing) Its that sense of the unknown that carries me forward, knowing that the further I contemplate and explore the artistry of 'in-hindsight' I pursue a higher, bona-fide perspective. I believe that where I am now, could exemplify a distressing episode of my life that I think I had to go through, in order to gain a vital lesson, in the game of love. Love is not my speciality, I am too quick to open up to mousy outsiders to my personal bubble, and therefore, granting fickle imaginary troubles. I have discovered the ingredients I need for my survival, that is cardinal to my functioning in society and as a human being. I really feel that these are the building blocks to elevating the compassion amongst people from those on the streets to those in mansions. Yes, I can honestly admit that I have had a taste of both worlds in my short presence. I often wish I could go back to school and be a totally different person. May be...

Only Girls Will Understand...

Here are my uppermost niggling nuisances only a girl would understand! Excuse my sexism, there are points here valid for the male community also. Its for those minute details that impair every day life when you least expect it. First World Problems at their effeminate finest.  1. Period pains when you're not on your period... I suggest if this case persists, seek medical attention, however if its just an incident of over consumption of ice cream, then you only have yourself to answer for. Damn you, hormones! 2. Lip gloss is more trouble than it is worth. You are strolling down the street in your swag, with out a care in the world, and the wind is in your favour until, your hair flaps across your face and sticks unpleasantly to your mouth, giving the effect that you have just sellotaped your pout to a furry friend. 3. When you've spent what feels like years on your new set of false nails, and you unexpectedly do something vigorous and unavoidable later on in the day, only...

My Make Up Routine!

Image
Previously I've been complimented on my make up skills, I think using colours that compliment your skin tone, eye colour and facial features is a positive practice, since my mother always said that, "A little powder can make you feel better on those  days!" You're horrendously hung-over, perhaps you had a restless nights sleep and those dark circles are making you feel more ghoulish than glamorous, do not fear, I am no 'expert' in the cosmetics department however, I do believe I have a way of disguising my blemishes and braving it into society when necessary! So with out further comment, I shall reveal the products I've been using lately, that won't break the bank...  For a fresh face I begin with a cleanser from LUSH . It is all natural ingredients, since I feel that abrasive soaps and face scrubs make my skin rough and dry, I have been getting on well with this alternative to the potent chemicals present in commercial washes. LU...
