Why fashion manufacturing is at fault

As we all know, when it comes to buying clothes, as consumers, we are all in a state of panic when it comes to dressing appropriately and proportionately. Budget wise and spending wise, all of us like to look and feel our best.  Like most people with a healthy level of self consciousness, we like to acknowledge our appearance as it were towards other people. We invite the type of interest and potential once we coordinate accordingly within the ideal scenario. Labels and fibres do not have to be the end of our right to express our dignity. Over centuries, engineers have been busy creating machines designed to copy a concept which is supposed to provide a material world for egocentrism culture that sustains the foundations of life as we know it.  Fashion has always oriented people through textures, tones and trimmings. Whether it be a fine sole of a durable boot or a technical pleat of an A-Line feathered skirt, the market of la mode doesn’t necessarily represent e...

Addictions, or lack of.

Click this pic to hear more about the whacky craze spawning all over YT Jenna Marbles does a weirdly awesome version on her channel 1. Beauty Products This one is especially directed at the Ladies, although I can't prejudice and suppose that men do not use beauty products from time to time, even if it is just a moisturiser or grooming tools, however the fact is applying make up becomes ritualistic and a 'can't live with out' for most women on a day to day basis. I believe that application of make up etc. can become an addiction to the extent that an individual cannot so much as pop to the corner shop with out a full coverage of face art. Reapplying make up throughout the day is not a foreign concept in the western world, whether it be discreetly during lectures, pruning in the office or simply a slight touch up trip in the public toilets, you can never go too far with out catching someone checking them selves out in a mirror. The same convention goes for tan...

Material World

After a recent progression in my journey of enlightenment, I have reclaimed possession of some of my physical gear. It is truly a debt in my karma and since I have missed two summers of imaginable nights out, nights in, with the girls and guys I became acquainted with through Uni days. Nothing seems to stick with me. The friends I thought I had made quickly disappeared faster than I can smoke a cigarette. This is an example of chaos theory at its finest. Every decision I had made to move from house to house across Nottingham only brought me back to where I began. A house in a nice area with educated people; but does this represent the real essence of me? Since I started Uni, I have been surrounded by people engrossed in their chosen subject, all battling it out in their field to achieve their dream job. They have created a serious change of perspective on my own future, and the chances of me settling with what I want, rather than allowing an unknown fate to decide mine for me. Ene...

Beauty is in the Eye of the beholder

Image
What is beauty? To see clearly one must encounter spiritual truth, that they should allow themselves to recognise that we all have aspects and parts of our physical bodies that we aren't so proud of, however instead of being overwhelmed and warped by images of ladies in fashion magazines and advertisements, we should carefully examine our bodies and learn to appreciate, adapt and adore our flaws more than comparatively towards marketed visuals. For example we may have an extremely distorted self esteem, due to ill-health, and the societal pressures to conform to certain aesthetic standards, even in desperate moments we may consider options such as surgery and expensive procedures to erase so-called 'blemishes' or 'imperfections' that in reality aren't what these labels entice at all. They are in fact, naturally occurring phenomena of what it means to be a human being. With that, I believe the most important element of living in the modern world is how we feel o...

Pardon my tan-tastically orange hands/ porcelain face combo. I do feel like a nob.  Hello Girls. I know the title sounds as alluring as that, however, I am not planning on writing an entire article about the pains of being a woman in society, I have dealt with the pangs of man-hate quite enough already and internalised those vicious ideas since I am all about gender equality.  I thought I would revert to the softer tone of this blog, that being about beauty products and fashion.  In hindsight, I feel that personally I have been objectified by men whether I have always been conscious of it or not, the female physique is a fascination motivating their diligence, nevertheless. Likewise, I am aware of the many women, struggling with this unfair development. With very little provocation, I have been subjected to the perversion of strange, unsolicited men in public, near my home and around the workplace. This has had an impact on my self-este...

Alternative Fashion

Image
I think what we need to see on more blogs, Pinterest boards, and in mainstream media, that shall deliver triumph, power and attitude; a long debated statement in the fashion world - be it more a lifestyle as opposed to a 'phase' or 'trend'... that's 'alternative' to you and me! Recently, with the changing seasons, some reflection and a revamp in my wardrobe, I have re-discovered my love for alternative fashion. It's true, we associate goth, punk, rocker, emo, scene etc. with the varied taste in music, selective choice of bands, brands and style icons. In conjunction with this particular look, it is permissive for the collection who may feel they do not fall into a category outside of this spectrum, in regards to pop-culture, that I believe deserves further appreciation.
