Queer Nature

The nature on this planet doesn’t always conduct itself how we would initially imagine. Upon investigation, scientists have found some very unusual yet fascinating behaviours, such as metamorphosis, androgynism and cannibalism, just to mention a few, are of the phenomena which have been revealed to us over years of dedicated environmental studies through meticulous observation of wildlife and our habitat. Natural selection is thought to be contextualised by the 19th century naturalist, Charles Darwin, who demonstrated how genetic adaptation guaranteed the survival of a species. For anything to exist, the conditions of its territory must be sufficient for it to sustain and reproduce life. Whether you’re a devoted ecologist, an ideology enthusiast or simply maintain a zeal for knowledge of the Earth we occupy, it is undeniably intriguing how our ecosystem cultivates itself on the foundations of evolution. You may have heard of idioms like “cool as a cucumber'' or “fresh as a dais...

Signs Of Abuse

Image
I cut a bad habit many years ago, by application of the philosophy that every day I didn't do (x) activity, I was ultimately one closer to better health ; I knew that if I could achieve this, then I would attain the insights as to how to advise others with similar conflicting desires. I do realise that absolute self determination and persistence isn't a guarantee that commitments will stand the test of time, yet we can certainly hope so(!) Originally, the reason that prompted me to change was because my (now-ex) boyfriend insisted I seek a psychological intervention in the form of a qualified therapist - reality was he had his own mental turmoil, by which he tethered reverse psychology upon me as a technique of "guilt tripping." I have vague theories about why he acted as he did to warp my senses. (Gaslighting) What I believed to be my own logic and free-will, perhaps what I lacked initially, before entering a relationship such as this one, I can contend that my de...

What People Taught Me At University

Image
First things first. I am not going to undertake a proposition that university is the be all and end all of victory amongst our species. I recall being at school whereby the teachers imposed that if we were to avert higher education that we would never attain our hearts desires. Since my own path has transpired unimaginable consequences, I oppose this structure. Finishing school without formal qualifications, truth be told, is not as dreadful as one may believe. Sure, we are lectured on mandatory subjects, such as Math, English and Science. Once we are inquired about our elected coursework, the reality of our futures truly begin to flash before our eyes. Most parents and carers encourage their children to seek some form of employment whilst they are undergoing these examinations. Some suggest avoiding this settlement, in consideration of the fact that it may disrupt the progression of ones educational credentials. On the other hand, from personal experience, a few hours during the we...

To Vape or not to Vape?

Image
I am a smoker of the last 5 years, with intermittent breaks, meaning I have managed to quit almost cold turkey for up to and over a month. Various online resources reveal contrasting statistics claiming that it is roughly 28-60 days to create or break a habit of one form or another, so this is not exclusive to smoking. I have been very serious about my smoking addiction and have gone to extreme measures to counteract the effect, in relation to its causes on my health, lifestyle and image. I have no doubt that the iconography depicting smokers have both a severe impact on our social status (whether we choose to adopt this particular scene or not) let alone our self-esteem or ambitions in life. It was suggested in another article I found on the web that smokers are more likely to be on a lower-income or incestuous around covert issues. I think that smoking is nothing more than an addiction, I do believe that a person has personal power to quit, however rem...

My Tinder Experience

Image
My philosophy for sex and relationships. I have always sought for soul connections, personality and conversation over appearances, employment and background. Honestly, I have never really approached many men, they generally come to speak with me initially, but that might be because I look friendly and open, and I am an easy-going, spiritual person. I have discovered that Tinder has rescued the last of my mental health, before I totally deteriorated. It was like, I took the initiative to download the app on my smartphone, and have had the pleasure of speaking with a diverse assortment of gents. It has opened my eyes, for me to understand that I have been treated like dirt before, I have not been offered anything genuine, with a foundation of friendship, as opposed to a strictly sexual agenda, that is not my priority. I have allowed this to go on for too long, it was about time I came out of my shell and began to explore the possibilities of having a new boyfriend. I recommend ...

Begging and Homelessness

Image
Easter (or Oester) is the time of year, when new horizons begin to develop, for we associate this with rebirth and expect a more pleasant climate, for harvest and growth, both physical and spiritual. The resurrection of Jesus is celebrated and for the less religious, better weather conditions! Recently, there have been posters affixed to the litter bins in Nottingham City Centre advertising the risks of giving money to homeless people/beggars. This has had a mixed response, some have been genuinely outraged for its derogatory context. As a young person in Nottingham myself, born and bred, who has had homelessness issues as an individual, I have felt compelled to write something about this problem. I have explored Nottingham inside-out and witnessed the struggles of the people on the streets. I have been lucky to get accommodation in my times of need, with associations such as Framework, YMCA and Nacro.  The human beings surviving on the streets are not to be blamed f...

Writer's Block

Image
I guess a blog can be many things. It can be a source of useful and entertaining information for the public, or it can be a very intimate diary of events of an individual's life. When I began this blog, I intended on it being a bit of both. Most of all, I wanted it to be fun, with the hope that it would act as a device to reach out to unassuming browsers of the internet. Maybe it has succeeded in doing just that. Now I wonder what else I can do with my writing. I really do look on the bright side of life; when my family or a friend of mine is in a crisis, I tend to reflect on those occurrences with empathy and as much understanding as I can possibly conceive. I have this ability, or disability, depending on your level of optimism, that gives me what I believe to be extra sensory perceptive qualities. So lately, I have found my life crashing before my eyes, everything I built and stressed over to behold, has washed away, been taken from my grasp, as well as my sanity. The...
