You know you're a Media student when...

...You interpret the world abstractly, as if your life were in a movie and you were the protagonist of your own conceptualised reality.

...The Matrix / Inception provided all the enthusiasm and passion, necessary to apply for Media in the first place. CGI, SNM.

...You're supposed to be technologically adept but you still heavily rely on walkthroughs on random internet forums and wikiHow articles to learn how to do things in programmes such as Photoshop, which you should know by now from all those hours in lectures (!)

...You spend weeks at a time on YouTube consuming volumes of information from Vloggers and other non-credible sources, perchance material for critical analysis, investigating the details that these small productions deliver, such as short films.

...Then when you steal ideas from these videos for your own coursework.

...Your best friends are the coders, designers and philosophers.

...You believe in pseudo-science and think that our Media industry is going to evolve into 7D in the next decade.

...You would rather spend time plugged into your gadgets, headphones channelling music 24/7 whilst deciphering how to navigate around a new app or the latest internet attraction than have physical human interaction.

...You are part android / part human because you are almost constantly hooked into visual or audio stimuli.

...Someone asks you if you're interested in a recent film or game release and you feel totally uninformed. Awkward.

...You're not surprised about the reaction around Pokemon GO.

...People ask what you intend to do once you've finished your degree, or what your career prospects are, you vaguely respond with, "Media...?"

...When people say that a Media degree is rubbish and pointless, you simply remind them of the hundreds of thousands of 20-somethings graduating with the same anxiety around their qualification too.

...Google is your God and you consult it for every thing.

...Your lecturers are secretly Hippies with a double life.

...You are frequently miffed about unreliable internet connections and download speeds.

...Its your mission in life to discover the best indie films, music and games. You are wary of mainstream media and you're convinced every thing is a conspiracy.

...You probably ended up studying Media by accident. You didn't plan on taking Media at University.

...Other students think that you're dumb and uneducated, when in fact you have to revise a little bit of every other subject for Media studies to make sense.

...These days, you wonder if they still play music on the radio.

...You are obsessed with the continuity of every thing in existence and you've probably got OCD; especially when it comes to editing.

...You fancy your self as a bit of an artist, a photographer or similar.

...You gain a lot of general knowledge, that is not exclusive to Media studies, meaning you get along with students in all different areas of the education system - which is pretty cool. If all else fails you always have current affairs and news to have a conversation about.

... You have a love / hate relationship with Social Networking.

...Communication IRL is a rare encounter.

...You could narrate your life with Memes alone.

...You don't pay a TV licence.

...The morals of Disney and Warner Brothers are often questioned.
