Alternative Fashion

Image
I think what we need to see on more blogs, Pinterest boards, and in mainstream media, that shall deliver triumph, power and attitude; a long debated statement in the fashion world - be it more a lifestyle as opposed to a 'phase' or 'trend'... that's 'alternative' to you and me! Recently, with the changing seasons, some reflection and a revamp in my wardrobe, I have re-discovered my love for alternative fashion. It's true, we associate goth, punk, rocker, emo, scene etc. with the varied taste in music, selective choice of bands, brands and style icons. In conjunction with this particular look, it is permissive for the collection who may feel they do not fall into a category outside of this spectrum, in regards to pop-culture, that I believe deserves further appreciation. I guess I may have to write something here, do I not? Having little notifications popping up intermittently in my emails and Facebook, with concern as to why I hadn't posted again since, well, it will almost have been a whole month now! I'm not going to hold back what I am about to reveal. I am sharing this information on my blog for a couple of reasons. 1) It may enlighten someone else, for them to know that they are never alone, no matter how difficult things have become, for I have surely been there. 2) Just because I am from an affluent area, fairly well educated and would appear to have very few problems, I do not wish others to assume I lack compassion for them too. I may have more empathy for you than you think. I have struggled, insanely. Especially during this entire year, it would seem. I think 2015 hasn't been my strongest year, but I have certainly had a chance to explore myself as a person, and meet new people from circles I would otherwise had never com...

Bed Head & My New Friend

Hello loyal readers! I have to say, that I am really enjoying keeping this blog. Although that may come across as sarcastic, which is generally a problem when it comes to the weird world of words, especially in techie-land, where you can never be 100% sure how serious the sender of your message is being with out the context and aid of emoticons, what I am writing now may seem like it is slightly rehearsed or even bland. Yet this is far from the truth, I always write off the bat and usually in the company of some decent music (by my books) and my infallible research skills, as I don't like to say anything with out doing my homework first, to avoid humiliation for my inaccurate information later. I also do not condemn the grammar Nazis onslaught of correction, need be it. This morning I woke up, as I usually do (in fact, I don't think I've had a day in my life where I hadn't woken up eventually) and I felt a bit rough, unfortunately, I have been suffering migraines ...

Accessories Street

Last week, I was doing a major haul of beauty products. As someone working in retail, I think it is necessary for the sales assistants to look fresh and well groomed. Here I have selected a few of my favourite products... I bought these in Boots because I didn't want to spend £40 for acrylics amidst toxic fumes of a major salon on Thurland Street. I just feel a tad responsible for the environment, furthermore the independent nail technicians around the City Centre lose a lot of business to the bigger beauty bars in Nottingham. I required a quick fix and these proved appropriate for a gig at the pub a couple of weeks ago. Later I painted them black, so they are very versatile. Notably I like the shape and the faded colour effect.  They were around £7; moderately priced since they lasted a good while. I've replaced this set by 'Elegant Touch' to these that are on my hands now; I don't think that glittery pink lacquer can get any more typical girlie -...
