Seven Pence

They say if it were easy, everyone would be doing it. I wish to express how important it is remind ourselves daily, that we should not allow societal pressures to overwhelm us too much. That we are all on our own unique path in life, and that you should never condemn yourself for feeling like you haven't achieved enough.

That somehow you are behind, or not doing good enough. The reality is, we are all in this gridlocked web of competitiveness, greed and survival. You should never feel guilty for attempting to create conditions that are more comfortable for yourself, because everyone is doing the same thing. It doesn't matter how long it takes you, how many times you fail, as long as you get back up again, fighting, then the world is your playground. See all the immigrants coming to the UK for a nicer lifestyle, for greater opportunities, somewhere to bring up their families in a safer, kinder environment. It is only natural that we want to make ourselves a happier home, and build exciting careers. They are the prime pleasures within our existence. Especially in terms of the western-world. We should never take those for granted.

Self-care can be really difficult, with what feels like limited time, for work commitments, care of others such as children, and maintaining a clean, secure home. Self-care should be top priority. It allows us to stay in touch with ourselves, before every day stress destroys us, mentally, physically and spiritually. We get so absorbed by television, social media, our colleagues and our friends lives, that we often fail to recognise when we might need some guidance ourselves. I speak from experience. Try to avoid drugs and alcohol, because you will be in the same predicament as before you consumed them. If any thing, do it for your health. You can earn money, you can lose money, but you can't buy a new body, a new brain or a new soul.

I have recently been in contact with Talent Match, a charity working with young people in Nottingham, who are aiming for long term career goals, with the help of friendly mentors: www.groundwork.org.uk/Sites/nottingham/pages/yas-tm

With the aid of these independent outlets, any dream is attainable with the correct mind frame. With dedication and perseverance, we are enabled to put our skills to their best use. I have been going to various interviews for a mixture of job roles. Despite my odds, I managed to be successful in one of them. When you refuse to give up and stop letting the façade of others lives swamp your own visage of your self worth, your circumstances and ambitions then you begin to accomplish more. It is not chance. People are not luckier than others. Seeking opportunities with a positive vibration, carries us in the right direction. That is how people succeed. It is true that where we are born, to whom and what education we access, is arguably down to fate, however this is not the set road throughout ones entire life journey.

All the while, no matter how much or how little you have in your back pocket, be sure to take care of your self, because nobody is going to do that for you. Even family can't always be relied upon. Sometimes they are not in a position to help, no matter how wealthy, healthy or intelligent they may be.

The truth is one minute, you can have it all. No worries. The next you can have it all stripped away, in the bat of an eyelid. I have encountered this conundrum enough times to stay strong enough to avoid in the future.

So that is my little inspiration point for the day. These last few weeks have been tough but I love how I am constantly learning to do new things as a young adult in Nottingham. I know nobody is going to judge me for trying, regardless. I'm just being me with my last 7p.
